A few pictures from "Under the Apple Tree" -- this one was, in fact, taken under the apple tree in our backyard :-)

Sibling rivalry has reared its big ruly uncombed head here in a major way and one of the steps we've decided to take is to give the girls their own rooms again -- they've been sharing for almost three years now but we're hoping that a better sense of territory/this-is-mine might come from giving them their own spaces. As well as giving them somewhere to cool off, or be alone when it all gets to be too much. Anna is particular is very excited about her room -- the smallest bedroom, but conveniently located the closest to the bathroom. Preschooler priorities!

Mirthes room we'll probably set up with two beds, in case they still prefer to sleep in the same space. I took this photo a few nights ago, after a rather long day, with a big meltdown at the end, so that they got sent to bed without a story (the biggest punishment we can give :-) There were still plenty of (crocodile) tears when I finally went downstairs and when I headed back up to go to bed myself, I found them asleep like this. Little devils.

As if I have time for this!

Voor Jo dan: een Paas-update :-)

We gingen dit jaar naar Hamburg voor Pasen -- vertrokken zaterdag en zondag alweer terug. Mijn schoonzus en haar gezin wonen in een prachtig oud boerderijtje (ca. 1650) en het was alweer zes jaar geleden dat we daar zijn geweest. Mooi om te zien hoe het is geworden. Helaas heb ik de verkeerde batterijoplader meegenomen (de Nikon, ipv de Olympus -- doh!) dus ik heb weinig foto's kunnen maken voordat het op was, en die zijn behoorlijk bewogen. Nou ja. Volgende keer beter :-)

Vandaag nog een lekkere paasbrunch gedaan, en straks komt mijn schoonvader nog op de koffie, dus ik ga weer naar beneden om alles klaar te zetten.

Ik ga wel door met mijn break, maar kom af en toe kijken en posten. Ik merk wel dat ik veel meer rust in mijn hoofd heb, nu ik minder achter de computer zit. Met Mirthe zijn er wat dingen aan de gang, op school en thuis, dus ik heb voor haar gewoon veel meer tijd nodig. (Het gesprekje ging goed op school, Jo!) Anna gaat lekker maar die vraagt ook de nodige aandacht, en ik wil alles in huis hier klaar hebben voor de grote vakantie -- want dan ben ik echt thuisblijfmoeder, 24-7 en 6 weken lang, en ik moet gewoon een prettige 'werkplek' hebben, zodat ik mezelf en die twee meiden niet te kort kom.

En in de grote valantie, en daarna, wil ik weer dingen gaan maken. Ik wil weer tekenen, ik wil de ideeen in mijn hoofd waar maken. Ik wil creeren. Daarvoor komt er (waarschijnlijk) nog een website (zit aan Typepad te denken) en omdat ik dat zelf wil doen (ipv Eric het allemaal laten opzetten) moet ik gewoon minder tijd hier besteden.

Maar ik kom zeker terug, in wat voor vorm dan ook :-)

I'll be taking a break here for a while, getting some projects done in house (yes! wallpaper! scraping again!) and yard. I hope to be back around Mirthe's birthday in early June.

Until then I'll leave you with pictures of Baby's 3rd birthday party. After the disappointment of Pake's party (there wasn't one :-) and having to watch Mirthe go off to another classmate's party, Anna had had enough. "I NEVER get invited anywhere. But it doesn't matter, 'cause I'm gonna give my own party and I'm the boss of my own party and I get to say who gets invited."

So she threw a party for her Salvation Army doll, Baby, who turned three (what a coincidence :-) and we were armtwisted into making cupcakes and party hats, and decorating chairs. We invited Jannie van de Speeltuin, because you have to have a real guest, otherwise it's not a real party, just pretend.

And a good time was had by all.
